17-year-old pedestrian killed on 71 Freeway in Pomona

POMONA, Calif. (KABC) -- A 17-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed on the 71 Freeway in Pomona early Wednesday morning.

The victim, identified by the coroner as Gabriel Alan Pierson of Pomona, was walking in the center divider near Mission Boulevard when he was struck around 12:19 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Pierson was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver who hit the pedestrian remained at the scene and was not arrested.

The crash is still under investigation.
