Pedestrian struck, injured in hit-and-run crash along Imperial Highway

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A search is on for a hit-and-run driver who struck a woman trying to cross the Imperial Highway, sending her flying 30 feet and causing serious injuries.

The incident occurred at 1:45 a.m. Monday on the southbound side of Imperial Highway at Menlo Avenue. According to police, the woman was crossing the highway when she was struck by a small, dark-colored sedan.

The impact sent the woman airborne about 30 feet, and authorities say she suffered head trauma and a broken jaw. She was transported to an area hospital in grave condition, but her status was updated to critical but stable shortly thereafter.
