SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- A Pasadena-area transient was arrested for burglary in Simi Valley Monday after several residents called police and a search was launched.

Simi Valley Police received a call about a burglar entering a residence on the 5300 block of Maricopa Drive at about 4:16 p.m. Monday. A man had entered the woman's home and fled when confronted.

As officers arrived, police received a call from a nearby residence that a suspect had tried to steal a vehicle from the driveway.

As a search perimeter was being set up, a third call reported that a suspect had climbed into garage rafters at a residence on the 5400 block of Mohave Drive. The suspect came out of the rafters and the homeowner detained him until officers arrived, according to the department. The suspect was then arrested without incident.

Police discovered a home on the 5200 block of Indian Hills Drive had been burglarized prior to the first call being received.

Pasadena-area transient Carlos Hernandez, 30, was identified as the suspect by the first two callers. He was arrested on three counts of residential burglary and count of attempted carjacking. He was booked at the Ventura County Jail.
