PICO RIVERA, Calif. (KABC) -- Police arrested a 17-year-old son in connection with his father's stabbing death in Pico Rivera. A second 18-year-old suspect was also arrested.

The two were first detained by Montebello police before being arrested, sheriff's officials said. The 18-year-old suspect was identified as Jesus Adame. Eyewitness News confirmed the second suspect was the stabbing victim's son, identified by neighbors as Sergio Gutierrez, Jr. Detectives first named the son as a person of interest in the case.

The stabbing happened in the 3700 block of Oaklawn Lane at 1:35 a.m. Saturday. Neighbors identified the victim as Sergio Gutierrez Sr., 50. He was found with several stab wounds and was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.

Sheriff's officials first reported that the stabbing happened during a home-invasion robbery, but they were later unsure if a robbery had occurred. It was unclear if anything was taken from the home.

Gutierrez, his wife and Gutierrez Jr. were all home at the time. Gutierrez Jr. took off in the family's car following the violence, authorities said.

Authorities said they have been called to the home in the past for domestic issues involving the teen. The teen has drug problems, according to neighbors.
