RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- Authorities are asking the public to help track down a man suspected of raping a teenage girl after meeting her on Facebook in Riverside.

Detectives said the incident happened in February 2015 around 8 p.m. near the intersection of Woodbine Street and Park Avenue where the suspect and victim met.

"During that meeting, the suspect committed a sexual assault and raped a teenager. He then fled," Officer Ryan Railsback said.

But Riverside police do not think this is an isolated incident. In fact, they believe this suspect has done it before. Detectives recently discovered another victim that appears to have been attacked by the same suspect, police said.

It took the first victim a while to come forward, authorities said, and after months of detective work they were able to confirm the suspect with a photo.

Authorities said this incident is the perfect example of why parents need to talk to their kids about social media.

"There are people out there that get on these sites because they are predators. They want to victimize somebody and that's what we want to prevent," Railsback said.
