OXNARD, Calif. (KABC) -- Oxnard Police are seeking information about an attempted murder suspect believed to be involved in a string of armed robberies in the Southwinds neighborhood this year.

Police said there have been 16 reported street robberies in the Southwinds neighborhood of Oxnard between August and November 2014.

Oxnard Police responded to a report of a shooting on October 22 at 9:45 p.m. at Charles Street and Campbell Way. Police determined a man talking on his phone outside his residence was approached by two suspects demanding his personal belongings. The man refused, and two other suspects approached, and one of the four suspects pulled out a handgun and shot the man.

The victim was hospitalized with a life-threatening gunshot wound, but is expected to survive after undergoing surgery. The suspects fled on foot.

Oxnard Police believe the shooting is related to the other armed robberies in the area.

Southwinds is located south of Pleasant Valley Road, north of Hueneme Road, east of J Street and west of Saviers Road.

In the majority of the robberies, a lone suspect has been described as a Hispanic man between 20-27 years old with some facial hair, standing 5 feet 7 inches tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

There have only been vague suspect descriptions in some of the robberies, according to police.
