Woman dies after being struck by car while crossing street in El Segundo

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (KABC) -- A 62-year-old woman was struck by a car while she was crossing the street and died from her injuries at a hospital in El Segundo Wednesday night.

Around 9 p.m., the woman was crossing at the intersection of Sepulveda Boulevard and Mariposa Avenue when she was hit by a car that was turning left on Sepulveda.

Authorities said the driver, a 53-year-old El Segundo man, stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. No signs of alcohol or drugs were suspected to be a factor in the accident, and no charges have been filed against the driver.

The woman was transported to a nearby hospital and later died from her injuries. Her name is being withheld until next of kin is notified.
