SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) -- A 53-year-old Laguna Niguel man is facing charges that he sexually assaulted two 10-year-old girls, and officials are looking to see if there are more potential victims.
Glen Thomas Kauffman is accused of committing lewd acts on minors. He made his first court appearance on Monday, and a judge denied a request to lower his bail from $1 million.
Officials say he is affiliated with a girls youth softball league in Orange County, and because of his access to minors through the organization, they are looking to see if there are potentially more victims. It was not immediately clear if he knew the alleged victims through the softball league.
Prosecutors allege one of the victims was sexually assaulted multiple times over a period of three years, and the other girl was assaulted on at least one occasion.
The Orange County Sheriff's Department arrested Kauffman on Aug. 27.
Kauffman is also a member of the board of directors of UC Irvine's alumni association, but that group said his membership is now on hiatus.
If convicted of all charges, Kauffman faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
