YORBA LINDA, Calif. (KABC) -- Volunteers with the German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County cooked and served up a Thanksgiving feast for some four-legged friends Sunday in Yorba Linda.
Dozens of German Shepherds were given meals as part of the group's first-ever event, "The Great K-9 Steak Out." The K-9s dined on steak, potatoes and green beans. All of the dogs, ranging in age from six months to nine years old, are in foster care and available for adoption at the rescue.
"We wanted to reward the dogs that we care about so much with something special because the dogs give so much back to us all year-round," said Maria Dales, executive director for the organization.
The rescue group hopes to turn the K-9 steak out into an annual event as a way to help find loving homes for the dogs.
