ARCADIA, Calif. (KABC) -- A mountain lion was caught on camera roaming around an Arcadia neighborhood Sunday night.

The big cat was found wandering in a backyard in the 2000 block of Carolwood Drive around 10:30 p.m.

Arcadia resident Fernando Gonzales said he grabbed a flashlight and tried to shoo the animal away. When it did not leave, he called police.

"I just kept my flashlight on it the entire time, making sure that I knew where it was at the whole time," said Gonzales. "It was just staring back at me. I moved left, it moved left. I moved right, it moved right. That was actually pretty spooky."

Police responded, but the mountain lion just disappeared into the darkness.

Gonzales said the neighborhood has seen mountain lions and bears before, so he understands that it is just part of the territory of living along the San Gabriel foothills.
