'Zombie cat' buried, climbs out of own grave and survives
Bart was thought to be dead and was buried, but he was still alive and ended up climbing out of his grave.

TAMPA, Fla. (KABC) -- A feline being called a "zombie cat" was thought to be dead, but ended up climbing out of his own grave.

Bart was hit by a car in Tampa, Florida, and presumed to be dead.

He was buried, but Bart was not dead, and climbed out of his grave.

Bart was severely injured and had to be put on a feeding tube for seven weeks and lost an eye.

"It was touch and go. He almost died. The first couple weeks our vets were giving him a 50-50 chance that he would make it," CEO of the Humane Society Sherry Silk said. "This cat had a spirit like no other and he was determined to live."

When Bart's story of survival from the grave surfaced, people from around the world donated $9,000 to help cover his medical costs.

Bart's foster family, who have taken care of him since his recovery, have adopted him.
