Driver takes extreme measures to avoid having car impounded

WALTHAMSTOW, England (KABC) -- An angry driver took it upon himself to avoid having his car impounded in a London suburb, and his extreme tactic was caught on camera.

When the man saw his car being towed away after parking illegally, he jumped on the truck's flatbed and climbed into the driver's seat. He then started the engine, slammed it in reverse and shot off the back of the tow bed.

The car dropped about three feet and landed on all four wheels with a big thud, but it still took off.

Police were called after the driver pulled the maneuver.

Authorities say the man had utter disregard for public safety because he launched his car from the tow truck without being able to see below him. They haven't said if he'll face any charges.
