ANAHEIM, Calif. (KABC) -- The popular Main Street Electrical Parade is returning to Disneyland starting next month for a limited engagement, park officials said Monday.
The parade returns to Anaheim on Jan. 20 and will run nightly through June 18, 2017.
The dazzling nighttime parade premiered at Disneyland in 1972 and ended its run there in November 1996, but also appeared at California Adventure in 2010 and at other parks around the world. It recently ended its run at Walt Disney World in Florida.
The Main Street Electrical Parade features Disney characters like Mickey Mouse and Goofy on parade floats covered in about half a million twinkling lights. Other characters making appearances include Cinderella, Peter Pan, Snow White and Pinocchio.
They are accompanied by the "Baroque Hoedown," a synthesized soundtrack first released in 1967.
Special tickets are available for the after-hours premiere of the parade on Thursday night, Jan. 19 by calling (714)781-4636.
To mark the return of the parade, a Main Street Electrical Parade boat will also appear in Newport Beach's 108th Christmas Boat Parade, Dec. 14-18. Mickey Mouse will serve as grand marshal for the boat parade on opening night.
The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of ABC7.
