Make-A-Wish Foundation gives 8-year-old the chance to protect, serve Los Angeles

ELYSIAN PARK, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- An 8-year-old boy who wishes to protect and serve the city of Los Angeles had his dream come true thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Noah Cohen loves the emergency services personnel of Los Angeles, and his love comes from the 1970s show "Emergency." The action and adventure show is a good distraction from the medical challenges he faces in real life.

"Noah has a rare condition that he was born with called VACTERL association, which is a number of co-occurring anomalies that run throughout his body system. He is a super brave and tough guy. He's had 24 surgeries," his mother, Amy Cohen, said.

Despite Noah's challenging condition, his spirit and positive outlook shine through. The wannabe-paramedic and his parents flew into Los Angeles Wednesday from their home in Vermont for his 911 surprise.

Noah was introduced to L.A.'s finest thanks to the LAX Airport Police, LAPD, LASD, L.A. City Fire and Los Angeles County Fire Department.

He will be enjoying a secret two-day V.I.P. service with the different emergency services departments.
