Random Acts of Kindness group gives homeless family special Christmas present
A Riverside group known as Random Acts of Kindness gave a once-homeless family of six an apartment, food, furniture and rent as a Christmas gift.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- This holiday, Santa's sleigh took on the form of a delivery truck and all of his elves were volunteers from Riverside.

The group is called Random Acts of Kindness and on Christmas Eve the group is helping out a family of six who were homeless just a few days ago, living in a tent next to a cemetery in San Bernardino.

John Gordon is the organizer of Random Acts of Kindness. He's also the person who helped move the family from the tent into an apartment.

Jessica Sanchez, the mother of the once homeless family, is grateful for the people who have gone above and beyond to help out.

"[It's] actually a dream come true because we had nowhere else to go," said Sanchez.

Gordon told the Sanchez family that Santa would be bringing them a few gifts, but no one had an idea of what sorts of presents they'd get. Santa brought a Christmas tree, furniture, a refrigerator, beds and tons of groceries.

But the biggest present of all is that the family will have three month's rent paid.

"You know, every hill's got two sides so hopefully we helped them climb to the top, and now it's all downhill from here, hopefully," Gordon said.

Sanchez knows how important this is for her children.

"Sometimes I think maybe I don't deserve it, but I know my kids do, so thank you guys," she said.
