Santa Monica elementary students give back to LAFD

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (KABC) -- We are reminded this time of year it is better to give than to receive, but the kids at Canyon Elementary in Santa Monica don't need a reminder.

On the last day of school before Christmas break, students there are teaching a lesson in giving back.

In a recent fundraiser, the students helped raise $2,500 - money that was meant for their school that they instead gave to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
