Angels' Garrett Richards has damaged UCL in elbow, MRI shows

The Los Angeles Angels say starting pitcher Garrett Richards had an MRI of his right elbow Wednesday in Los Angeles, and the exam revealed damage to his UCL.

According to the team, "Garrett was presented with both conservative care and surgical options to treat the injury." The Angels said a treatment plan would be announced accordingly.

Richards, a potential trade target for teams seeking pitching help, came out of Tuesday's game against the Mariners in the third inning.
