LOS ANGELES -- TheClippershave waived forward Branden Dawson, four months after he was arrested on suspicion of spousal abuse.
The team announced they were cutting ties with the former Michigan State standout Sunday. Dawson appeared in six games with the Clippers last season, averaging 0.8 points and 0.7 rebounds in 4.8 minutes.
He also spent time in the D-League, playing a total of 29 games for Erie, Bakersfield and Grand Rapids, averaging 10.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.1 steals.
Dawson was arrested March 13 in Los Angeles and released on $50,000 bail.
The 23-year-old forward from Gary, Indiana, played four seasons at Michigan State and helped the Spartans reach the Final Four as a senior. He was taken in the second round by New Orleans in last year's draft and acquired by the Clippers in a draft night trade in exchange for cash considerations.
