Dodgers' Yasiel Puig set to start Sunday against Diamondbacks

LOS ANGELES -- Having been neither traded nor in the starting lineup for more than a week, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig will finally get some playing time.

Puig, who is dealing with his second hamstring issue this season and his fourth in the past two years, is scheduled to be in the starting lineup Sunday for the Dodgers' series finale against the Arizona Diamondbacks, manager Dave Roberts said.

Puig has not started a game since July 20 at Washington. The following day, after entering that game as a reserve, he tweaked his right hamstring running up the first-base line.

Puig has come to the plate just twice since: on July 21 as a pinch hitter in the 13th inning at St. Louis and Friday night as a pinch hitter against the Diamondbacks. He was retired each time.

According to media reports, the Dodgers are listening to teams that might be interested in acquiring Puig, who burst upon the major league scene in 2013 and remained productive into the 2014 season but has largely underachieved since.

A hamstring issue on each leg last year reduced his season to 79 games. Puig batted .255 in 2015 with a .322 on-base percentage and a .436 slugging percentage. He has played 80 games this season around his two hamstring issues, hitting .254/.315/.375.

In his 159 games over the past two seasons, Puig has hit a combined 18 home runs with 70 RBIs.
