LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Los Angeles Kings defenseman Slava Voynov on Monday pleaded not guilty in a domestic violence case.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office says the 24-year-old Voynov caused his wife to suffer injuries to her eyebrow, cheek and neck during an argument. He faces one felony count of corporal injury to spouse with great bodily injury.

Voynov was arrested on Oct. 20 at a Torrance hospital where his wife was being treated for her injuries.

Following the arrest, the National Hockey League suspended Voynov with pay.

If convicted, the two-time Stanley Cup champion could face up to nine years in state prison.
