ONTARIO, Calif. -- The Lakers held Lonzo Ball (mild sprained ankle) and Brandon Ingram (head contusion) out of Wednesday night's preseason 122-104 loss to the Denver Nuggets.

Ball landed on point guard Emmanuel Mudiay's foot near the end of the first half of a preseason game Monday, also against the Nuggets. While Ball played briefly in the second half, the Lakers opted to play it safe with their prized point guard.

Ingram bumped his head with Denver's Malik Beasley during Monday's game and was evaluated by Lakers team doctor Daniel Vigil. Ingram was diagnosed with a head contusion.

Head coach Luke Walton said he thought Ball might have been able to play if this were a regular season game.

Ingram said he would have played if this was the regular season. He thinks he will play in the Lakers' next game on Sunday in Las Vegas. However, the second-year player has been experiencing headaches since colliding with Beasley.

"They checked for a concussion but I don't' have one," Ingram said. "Just have headaches. Right now, I don't feel like myself to come in and play right now. Of course this is preseason. If it was a regular season game I'd be out there right now."

Ingram said he has never had a head injury before.

"Woke up the next morning, felt a little bit," he said. "Probably had a headache ever since."
