RESEDA, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Cleveland High School's football team didn't know what to expect Tuesday when they walked into the gym, with cameras rolling and school officials waiting for them.
"I thought we were in trouble actually," said student Isiah Adams. "But to see this is just amazing. This is a blessing."
When the Los Angeles Rams mascot, Rampage, walked in, followed by star defensive end Robert Quinn wearing school gear, they knew something special was happening.
The Rams presented the team with brand new equipment and clothing for summer practice, to help make up for a theft at the school.
In March, thieves broke into the football office and stole more than $7,000 in cash and checks that was to be used to buy equipment.
One of the coaches alerted ABC7 to the theft using #abc7eyewitness and a mother of a player emailed the Rams and the NFL commissioner.
Now to see the response to her pleas has Samantha Koerner surprised and grateful.
"I never in a million years thought this would happen - such a big celebration," Koerner said. "I didn't even think they would answer my emails so I'm thrilled for the kids."
Quinn said he and the team were happy to help out.
"Things happen in life," Quinn said. "Luckily we're able to bless these kids with new uniforms and the things they need."
