Reports: Bryce Dixon gets 6 years in carjacking, robbery plea deal

Former USC tight end Bryce Dixon pleaded no contest to carjacking and two counts of second-degree robbery and was sentenced to six years in state prison in a plea deal Thursday, according to multiple reports.

Dixon and former LSU defensive tackle Trey Lealaimatafao, both 19-year-olds who were dismissed from their teams last year, were arrested and charged in January with a string of robberies and a carjacking in South Los Angeles. Each faced more than 15 years in prison if convicted on all counts.

"After extensive discussions with the district attorney's office and working with them, I believe we arrived at a deal that will allow him to put this behind him and move on with his life while still being a young man," Joshua Ritter, Dixon's attorney, told the Los Angeles Times.

Prosecutors alleged in January that Dixon and Lealaimatafao would stop people, threaten them and steal their belongings. Each faced multiple charges including second-degree robbery, carjacking, attempted carjacking and assault with a deadly weapon. Dixon confessed to using a knife in the course of a robbery, according to reports.

Lealaimatafao has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Dixon was dismissed from the team at USC over sexual misconduct allegations, although a judge overturned Dixon's expulsion, allowing him to return to USC as a student.

Lealaimatafao, a redshirt freshman who had yet to take the field in a game for LSU, was dismissed after an arrest on allegations of hitting a woman outside a bar after she tried to stop him from robbing her unconscious boyfriend.
