LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- City and state leaders are betting heavy on their respective hockey teams for the Stanley Cup. Mayors of Los Angeles and New York and the governors of California and New York are wagering on the outcome of the cross-country rivalry.
The winning city's mayor will sing a rendition of their respective city's song on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"
If the Kings win, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio will have to perform Randy Newman's "I Love LA." If the Rangers win, L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti must sing Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York."
The mayors also agreed the loser would spring for hot dogs for the Kimmel audience: Pink's from L.A., or Grays Papaya from New York.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo will send California Governor Jerry Brown have their own wager. If the Kings win, Cuomo will send Brown a "Taste of NY" gift basket, and a commemorative hockey puck from the 2013 "Hat Trick" of three on-time budgets in a row, an apparent dig at California's famously tardy state budget approvals.
If the Rangers win, Brown will send Cuomo the book "California: A History," by Kevin Starr, and a shipment of Lundberg Farms lightly salted organic brown-rice cakes.
Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final begins Wednesday evening in Los Angeles.
