UCLA's Aaron Holiday and Thomas Welsh are entering their names into the NBA draft, but they are not hiring an agent, sources told ESPN.
Holiday, a 6-foot-1 sophomore, saw a slightly diminished role this season after the arrival of Lonzo Ball. Holiday was a key factor off the bench for the Bruins, averaging 12.3 points and 4.4 assists while shooting 41.1 percent from 3-point range. With Ball, Bryce Alford and Isaac Hamilton all leaving, Holiday could be the go-to-guy for UCLA next season.
Welsh, a 7-foot center, averaged 10.8 points and 8.7 rebounds as a junior. He shot 58.5 percent from the field, and he has the touch to be a dangerous weapon around the basket.
"Both Thomas and Aaron are doing their due diligence in getting feedback from the NBA to determine what's in the best interest for their basketball futures," UCLA coach Steve Alford said in a statement. "Each of these young men come from strong families with great support networks, and I want them to know that we will fully support their decisions, whichever way they go."
Neither Holiday nor Welsh is projected to be drafted in June, with ESPN's Chad Ford ranking Holiday at No. 80 and Welsh at No. 119.
UCLA, which went 31-5 this season, has already seen freshmen Ball, TJ Leaf and Ike Anigbogu declare for the draft. Only Anigbogu didn't hire an agent, but he's leaning toward keeping his name in the draft.
Underclassmen that don't hire an agent have until May 24 to withdraw their names in order to retain their college eligibility.
