LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- It's going to be a big marathon weekend in Los Angeles with the U.S. Olympic Marathon team trials for the summer games in Rio and the L.A. Marathon.

The city will be the endurance race capitol of the country with the events. On Saturday, men and women will compete in the U.S. Olympic Marathon trials. The trials will tie up traffic along the Figueroa corridor with numerous street closures.

The trials start near the Los Angeles Convention Center and head down to Exposition Park. The 373 runners will loop the course four times.

The course for the L.A. Marathon runs through downtown Los Angeles and eventually ends near the Santa Monica Pier. Runners will have to deal with and endure hot temperatures during both races.

But for the Olympic hopefuls, the warm weather could be a good thing.

"It's hot here. It's going to be hot and humid in Rio, so I think you try to figure out who's going to be the best team," Olympic hopeful Luke Puskedra said.

Race organizers said there will be plenty of resources to help the runners finish. There will be water stations, towels and ice.
