Man survives being sucked into drainage pipe in Hesperia
A man survived being sucked into a drainage pipe in Hesperia Tuesday and carried about 200 yards to a nearby mud pond.

HESPERIA, Calif. (KABC) -- Nick Moore and his friends were up to their waists in water helping stranded drivers in Hesperia following a flash flood Tuesday night. That's when Moore was suddenly sucked into a drainage pipe.

"It was probably one of the scariest moments of my life because I didn't think I was going to make it out of it," he said.

His wife watched in horror as he was swept away 200 yards under Bear Valley Road and dumped into a muddy pond at Victor Valley College.

"I was about to take my last breath of water just to pass out and it dumped me out," Moore said.

Despite bumps and bruises, he was doing remarkably well on Wednesday. Meanwhile, city crews were out cleaning up the damage from Tuesday's flash flooding.
