WRIGHTWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- The Mountain High ski resort reopened Saturday, following a two-week closure that was prompted by dramatic storm damage in Wrightwood.

Mudslides caused significant damage, and the Christmas Eve storm also knocked out power for thousands of SoCal Edison customers.

Conditions were dramatically different in the area on Sunday, as snowboarders and skiers flocked to the slopes under clear skies and pleasant conditions.

"It took a lot of work but it means a lot because there's a lot of people depending on this to survive," Mountain High lift operator Greg Stone told ABC7. "And just getting things back to normal, it kind of brings -- showing that, yeah, that was devastating but things are going to turn around."

Mountain High ski instructor Richard Kim, gazing at the powder-covered slopes, said: "It is fabulous. It's amazing what the snow-makers can do."
