Aerial footage shows before-and-after look at destruction from Thomas Fire

VENTURA, Calif. (KABC) -- This satellite view from SkyMap7 shows the devastation from the Thomas fire to this Ventura neighborhood.

The video shows what the area looked like before fire, then switches to live satellite footage from AIR7HD.

"It seems like every other house and then a row of 10 or 12 houses were completely lost in the fire," Scott Reiff, AIR7HD reporter, said.

The footage shows hundreds of homes in the canyon above Foothill Road impacted by the fire.

"The fire just moved too quickly with too much in the way of high winds to save most of these homes," Reiff said.
