NBA superstar LeBron James flew to Berlin this past weekend to watch Olympic and world 800m champion Caster Semenya compete at the 2018 Internationales Stadionfest (ISTAF) on Sunday.

James had been in Paris as part of his More Than An Athlete tour, where he met up with Paris Saint-Germain stars Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappe, before making the trip to the German capital.

The South African middle distance runner, a superstar in her own right, competed in the 1000m and won it in a blistering time of 2:30.7, justifying the Los Angeles Lakers headliner's decision to make the short trip.

The athlete was delighted by King James' presence, tweeting on Monday: "When the greatness meet up. You just made my year for showing up to watch me race. This is too much #striveforgreatness"

Semenya, who is currently taking on the IAAF in the wake of a controversial testosterone ruling that could see her removed from her distances, also won her Diamond League 800m race in Zurich less than 72 hours prior.
