SAN PEDRO, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A librarian in San Pedro is using a bike as her library as part of her mission to get more children to read.

A custom-made book bike is a conversation starter and the creative way Ednita Kelly connects the community with the job she loves.

"I believe in the magic of libraries and what we bring to people, I really wanted to show that off in a fun way," she said.

Kelly carries 250 pounds of books every time she hits the streets and cycles all over the city, spreading her love of Los Angeles' libraries and the joy of reading.

Since starting her one-of-a-kind program, Kelly has given away more than 5,000 books to readers of all ages.
