It was the final panel at Star Wars Celebration, and Lucasfilm Story Group's Pablo Hidalgo, Kathleen Kennedy, Kiri Hart, Rian Johnson (Star Wars: Episode VIII) and directing duo Chris Miller and Phil Lord (the untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story) were all in attendance to talk about the future of Star Wars films. The biggest news out of the panel though? It was definitely the official announcement that Alden Ehrenreich will play a young Han Solo in the upcoming Han Solo Star Wars Story.

Alden Ehrenreich was the first person Miller and Lord saw for the role, but they ended up seeing over 3,000 people. On the Celebration stage, Ehrenreich recalled his screen test on the set of the Millennium Falcon and interacting with Chewbacca, which he said was "...pretty incredible because I've never acted with a Wookiee." Ehrenreich also said he definitely couldn't believe that he would get to play one of his favorite characters of all time and went on to add, "as a kid ... you played make believe and you kind of imagined what it would be like. So when you get there ... it's pretty incredible, so I'm just very, very excited." In fact, he shared with the crowd that his mom recently found his old Han Solo toy and sent him a picture of it. We love that he's a lifelong fan, and we can't wait to see what he brings to the role!
