HOLLYWOOD (KABC) -- A Ukrainian entertainment reporter was arrested for rushing at Brad Pitt and touching him on the red carpet of the Hollywood premiere of Angelina Jolie's new movie "Maleficent" Wednesday night.
Eyewitness News has confirmed that the man is 25-year-old Vitalii Sediuk, who has made a career of crashing red carpet premieres.
Sediuk was taken away in handcuffs after jumping over a barrier and rushing at Pitt, according to witnesses. He made brief contact with Pitt before security guards wrestled him back across the barrier.
Pitt was apparently unhurt and soon resumed signing autographs outside the El Capitan Theatre.
"This was an unfortunate and inappropriate incident that is being investigated by the LAPD," a Disney spokesperson said in a statement.
Actress America Ferrera experienced a bizarre red carpet moment two weeks ago at the Cannes Film Festival in France while promoting her film, "How to Train Your Dragon 2." While posing for pictures with Cate Blanchett and the cast, Sediuk snuck up behind her and tried to get under her dress. Security pounced on him and took him away.
At a movie premiere in Moscow in 2012, he gave actor Will Smith a hug, and then tried to kiss Smith on the mouth. Smith was not amused and smacked him in the face.
For Wednesday night's incident, Los Angeles police say Sediuk was arrested on suspicion of battery. His bail was set at $20,000.
Jolie did not witness the moment Pitt was attacked because she was talking to reporters about "Maleficent." The film is a different take on the story of "Sleeping Beauty." It opens in theaters this Friday.
