Comic book legend Stan Lee honored at LA City Hall

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The undisputed king of comic books Stan Lee was honored at Los Angeles City Hall on Tuesday.

City councilmembers announced they would officially dedicate a day in celebration of Lee's legacy.

Friday, Oct. 28, will be declared "Stan Lee Day" in the city of Los Angeles.

It's also the opening day for Stan Lee's Los Angeles Comic Con.

Lee said he couldn't think of a better city to host his pop-culture convention.

"Los Angeles is the home of entertainment. This is where it all starts," Lee said before the city council. "This is the movie capital of the world, the music capital of the world, everything, it's all here in L.A."

Lee created the legendary works of Spiderman, The Avengers and hundreds of other pop-culture icons.

"I am certainly proud as can be to be here today and to have been treated as beautifully as I have been, I can't thank you nearly enough," Lee said. "Bless you all, you've made me incredibly happy."
