'Fury' actors create lasting bond making WWII film
Jon Bernthal, Logan Lerman, Michael Pena talk about the making of 'Fury,' a World War II drama.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- "Fury," which hit theaters Friday, is a World War II drama starring Brad Pitt, a sergeant who's leading a group of soldiers on the front lines in the last days of battle.

As the Allies make their final push into Nazi Germany, Pitt and his tank crew face a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Logan Lerman, Michael Pena, Jon Bernthal and Shia LaBeouf play the soldiers under his command.

They all got very "cozy" with their biggest co-star, their tank nicknamed "Fury."

Director David Ayer put his actors through a rigorous boot camp so they could bond as a team. He also set up meetings with WWII veterans, and their stories proved to be invaluable to the actors.

"They were extremely generous in sharing these very intimate, personal details that some of them said that they hadn't shared with anybody," Lerman said. "For some reason, they felt comfortable talking to us."

"Fury" is rated R for strong sequences of war violence and some grisly images and language.
