HYDE PARK, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Actor Michael Jace, best known for "The Shield," has been detained in connection to the fatal shooting of a woman in Hyde Park, Eyewitness News has learned.



The shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. on the 5400 block of Brynhurst Avenue. The victim has been identified as Jace's wife, April Jace. The two were married for nine years.



Police say there were children inside the home at the time of the shooting. It's unknown what led up to the incident, which remains under investigation.



Jace played a detective on "The Shield," which aired on FX. He has also made appearances on the shows "Southland" and "The Mentalist."
