'Pirates of the Caribbean 5' to set sail in 2017

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A fifth installment of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise will be coming to theaters on July 7, 2017, Disney announced Wednesday.

The news was posted to the Disney Insider blog, which said: "We'll have to sail a bit further before we discover any more details about the film, but once we consult this trusty pirate map that mysteriously arrived at our office, we're sure we'll discover something soon!"

The "Pirates of the Caribbean" adventure films are based on Walt Disney's theme park ride.

The last film, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" was released in 2011 and starred Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. It grossed more than $1 billion worldwide.
