WundaBar Pilates has unique take on traditional reformer classes

STUDIO CITY, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A local Pilates company invented a unique reformer machine that goes well beyond traditional moves to provide strength, length, cardio and more.

WundaBar founder Amy Jordan wanted more out of her Pilates workouts, so she designed a machine that is the Swiss Army knife of Pilates reformers.

Her machine has a jump board, ballet bar and what's known as a "Wunda Chair," which allows students to get more than the smooth flow of traditional classes.

"It literally makes me taller. It straightens my spine. It aligns my muscles," said Vahe Jordan, Amy's husband.

Since Vahe is Amy's husband, he should speak highly of the program, but I worked out next to him recently and he was dripping in sweat.

"It changes every class. So it's really nice, because my body is constantly challenged," said Amy McChesney, a WundaBar student.

This core-centric program also infuses cardio to the mix, along with a handful of fitness toys to keep students on their toes.

It's a great workout for moms-to-be, too.

"It's actually been more helpful than anything. My joints don't hurt. I have no growing pains," said Hermine Bagumyan, who is pregnant. "It's got cardio. It's got legs. It's got abs. It's got arms, upper body."

WundaBar has six locations across Southern California and two more set to open in August.

The first class is free and packages are available.
