SAN PEDRO, Calif. (KABC) -- A man was found dead inside a burning vehicle in a crash that temporarily shut down all southbound lanes of the 110 Freeway in San Pedro Monday morning.
The crash was reported shortly before 2 a.m. near the Gaffey Street off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The car exited the freeway when it slammed into a railing and caught fire. The driver was trapped and died at the scene.
Emergency crews searched the area for any passengers that may have been ejected.
An investigation into the cause of the crash was ongoing.
All southbound lanes of the 110 were closed for hours. All lanes reopened around 6 a.m., CHP officials said.
