VENTURA, Calif. (KABC) -- One man was killed and another hospitalized following a double shooting outside a restaurant in Ventura early morning Sunday.
The shooting happened around 1:20 a.m. in the parking lot of Golden China Restaurant in the 700 block of Seaward Avenue.
Ventura police said two men were leaving together when some kind of altercation broke out and shots were fired.
A California Highway Patrol officer who was in the area heard the gunshots and found a 27-year-old man suffering from wounds to his upper body at the driveway to the restaurant. He died at the scene.
Soon after, a second gunshot victim, a 30-year-old man, arrived at Community Memorial Hospital with a single gunshot wound to the upper body.
Police say the second victim drove away from the shooting scene, then parked his car and rode a skateboard the rest of the way to the hospital.
He is expected to survive.
No suspect information was immediately available, and the investigation was ongoing, according to Ventura police.
