NORWALK, Calif. (KABC) -- A 14-year-old boy was shot in the leg during a drive-by shooting in Norwalk Saturday, Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies said.

The incident occurred near the 12000 block of Sycamore Street around 3:15 p.m. Deputies say the boy was standing with a group of people when a black Nissan Altima drove by, opened fire and fled the scene.

The boy was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Deputies say the boy is conscious and breathing.

The investigation is ongoing.
