19-year-old woman killed in motorcycle crash in Commerce

COMMERCE, Calif. (KABC) -- A 19-year-old Los Angeles woman was killed in a motorcycle crash that closed three lanes on the I-5 Freeway in Commerce Sunday afternoon.

The crash happened around 1:40 p.m. on the northbound side of the freeway near Garfield Avenue. Joseline Celeste Hernandez, who was a passenger on the motorcycle, suffered fatal head injuries after being ejected from the bike. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcycle driver, a 26-year-old South Gate man, was also ejected from his bike during the crash, authorities said. He sustained minor injuries, and his name has not been released.

According to authorities, the driver was splitting lanes in traffic when his bike collided into three other cars, one of which was a pick-up truck.

The accident closed three of the northbound freeway lanes for four hours, CHP said.
