TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. (KABC) -- Two Marines were killed when their helicopter crashed during a training exercise at a base in Twentynine Palms.
The Third Marine Aircraft Wing Chopper went down Friday afternoon. The two Marines were the only people on board.
The names of the Marines are being withheld pending notification of their families.
Wing commander Maj. Gen. Michael Rocco said in a statement released by Marine Corps Air Station Miramar: "Our hearts go out to the families and friends of the two Marines we lost in this tragic accident."
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
