2 men killed in separate, unrelated shootings in Oxnard; City's 7th, 8th homicides for 2016

OXNARD, Calif. (KABC) -- Oxnard police detectives are investigating two separate, unrelated homicides that occurred within six hours of each other Saturday night.

Authorities said the first incident happened around 5 p.m. in the 1900 block of N. Ventura Road. Officers found a man in his early 30s suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The man was taken to Ventura County Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

The second shooting took placed around 11 p.m. in the 1300 block of S. C Street. A man in his early 20s was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in a nearby parking lot. Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.

Detectives do not have any suspect information, and gang motivation has not been ruled out.

These are the seventh and eight homicides in Oxnard for the year, according to authorities.

The investigations were ongoing.
