Police search for a 300-year-old Antonio Domenicelli cello stolen in Glendale.

Police are searching for a Glendale car thief who also happened to make off with a 300-year-old cello worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Glendale police said the theft happened on Nov. 1 in the parking garage of the Embassy Suits located on North Central Avenue.

The thief stole a maroon, four-door 2007 Acura, according to police.

In the trunk of the car was an antique Antonio Domenicelli cello that was made in Ferrara, Italy in 1714.

Instruments constructed in Ferrara centuries ago are still in high demand, used by some of the world's top musicians and orchestras.

Investigators said neither the car nor cello have been found. Officials are trying to determine if the thief was targeting the cello or the car.

Authorities said the cello has scratches on the back.

A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the case.

Anyone with information is urged to call Glendale police at (818) 548-4911.
