PORT HUENEME, Calif. (KABC) -- Six people were rescued near the Port Hueneme Pier Sunday afternoon, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.

Around 5:20 p.m., authorities received reports of four people caught in a rip current. Not long after, two more people were reported to be caught when they tried to help the first group.

One person rescued was not breathing and CPR was performed. The condition of the person is unknown.

The pier is located off Ventura Road near Surfside Drive.

No further information was immediately available.
