7-year-old Adelanto boy dies following accidental shooting

ADELANTO, Calif. (KABC) -- A 7-year-old boy was killed in an apparent accidental shooting in Adelanto on Thursday.

Sheriff's investigators said family members called 911 reporting an accidental shooting inside a home on the 18000 block of Bellflower Street at 4:54 p.m.

Minutes later, a sheriff's deputy and ambulance arrived in scene and tried to save the child, identified as Daniel Cervantes.

He was rushed to Victor Valley Global Hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 6 p.m.

Officials said family members are cooperating with investigators. No further information was immediately available.
