Plastics, debris burn between 2 commercial buildings in Santa Ana

SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) -- A fire broke out between two commercial buildings in Santa Ana Saturday morning.

Fire officials said plastics and other debris were burning next to a building in the 2500 block of South Susan Street. The blaze started around 10:15 a.m.

More than 80 firefighters from the Orange County Fire Authority and Fountain Valley and Costa Mesa fire departments battles the flames which were contained two hours later.

According to the Orange County Fire Authority, the fire destroyed a semi-truck trailer and one vehicle in the area. Four forklifts were also damaged.

The scene is expected to remain until morning for the cleanup.

Smoke was visible for miles and many people took to social media with photos of the large, black plumes. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
