CUPERTINO, Calif. -- The Santa Clara County sheriff's department investigated the discovery of a body in a conference room at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino.

The body was first discovered around 8:30 a.m. and nobody else was involved, police said.

Authorities have identified the person as a male Apple employee and said a gun was found next to his body. Officials said the death of the man was an "isolated incident" and no foul play was suspected.

Apple released the following statement on Wednesday:

"We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of a young and talented coworker. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends, including the many people he worked with here at Apple. We are working to support them however we can in this difficult time."
