10 Cathedral High School football players suspended in hazing incident

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Ten varsity football players have been suspended from Cathedral High School in Los Angeles after an alleged hazing incident on Tuesday afternoon.

School officials would not comment on the nature of the hazing, but the incident involved five younger students from the all-boys Catholic school's freshman football team.

The varsity players were allegedly upset after the freshman players entered their locker room, turned the lights on and off and took some of their helmets.

No one was seriously injured. The high school notified the Los Angeles Police Department.

"We take misconduct very seriously and our students know that hazing in any form is not acceptable," principal Brother John Montgomery said Thursday. "Our theme this year is to be positive 'signs of faith' and what took place is not a good sign. Fortunately no one was seriously harmed and the students regret what took place."

The investigation was ongoing.
